(Lee, Sung Bom)

언어의 의미와 사용에 대한 탐구인 의미론과 화용론 전공인 이성범 교수는 서울대학교를 전체 수석으로 졸업한 후 동 대학원 언어학과에서 석사학위를 받고 1990년에 미국 Yale대학교에서 박사학위를 받아 1990년부터 1997년까지 한양대학교에서 근무하다 1997년부터 서강대학교에 재직하고 있습니다. 미국 산타바바라 소재 캘리포니아 대학교와 중국 난징 대학교에서 방문 교수로 근무했습니다. 미시화용론과 거시화용론, 사회적 소통의 구조와 원리, 감정 표출과 소통의 횡단문화적 연구 등을 수행하고 있으며 한국언어학회 상임이사를 역임하고, 담화인지학회 편집위원장, East Asian Pragmatics 이사 등의 학회 활동을 하였습니다. 현재 한국언어학회 부회장으로 있으며 교육봉사단체인 (사)지식과 희망 나눔에서 활동하고 있습니다.

Professor Sungbom Lee majored in English and graduated summa cum laude from Seoul National University. He received his PhD in linguistics from Yale University in 1990 and taught at Hanyang University until 1997, when he moved to Sogang University. He was a visiting professor at UCSB in 2004 and at Nanjing University in 2019. His teaching passions include semantics and macropragmatics and his academic specializations are emotional expressions, societal speech acts, and defamatory utterances. He is the author of numerous scholarly books, articles and chapters and the recipient of the Korean National Academy of Sciences Award and the Ministry for Culture, Sports and Tourism for excellent books. He served as the chief editor of Dicourse and Cognition and East Asian Pragmatics. Professor Lee is currently a vice president of the Linguistic Society of Korea and a board member of Hope Makers for Children, a non-profit organization for promoting English literacy of children.

(Chung, Inkie)

정인기 교수는 서강대학교와 University of Connecticut에서 수학하고 언어학 박사학위를 취득했고(UConn 2007), 현재 서강대학교 영미어문전공/영어영문학과 어학전공의 부교수로 재직 중이다.

주로 생성문법의 이론을 바탕으로 음성학, 음운론, 형태론 분야를 연구한다. 주된 연구 대상 언어는 영어, 한국어, 일본어이며, 성서 그리스어, 라틴어, 산스크리트어, 카유가어, 스와힐리어, 수화(수어) 일반도 다소 연구하고 있다. 국내외 여러 학술지에 논문을 출간하고 있으며 심사위원으로도 활동하고 있다. 현재 서강대학교 대학원 부원장과 언어정보연구소 소장으로 임하고 있다.

Inkie Chung is Associate Professor of Linguistics in the Department of English at Sogang. He studied at Sogang University (BA 1992, MA 1994) and at the University of Connecticut (MA 2004, PhD 2007). His research areas include phonetics, phonology and morphology, mainly in the framework of generative grammar. Languages he has worked on include English, Korean, Japanese and to a lesser extent Biblical Greek, Latin, Sanskrit, German, Cayuga and Swahili (and signed languages in general). He has published papers in various linguistics journals, domestic and international, and has served as referees as well. Currently, he is serving as Associate Dean of the Graduate School and Director of the Language and Information Institute at Sogang.

사회언어학이라는 분야에 매료되어 University of Pennsylvania에서 공부했습니다. 언어변이와

변화, 언어간 접촉, 한국어에 대한 영어의 영향, 호칭어, 경어법, 언어정책 등에 관심을 갖고 있으며, 한국사회언어학회에서 활동하고 있습니다.

Seo-young Chae is a Professor of Sociolinguistics. Among her interests are variations and changes of the vowel system of the Seoul Korean dialect, and linguistic outcomes of languages in contact situations. Many of her works are on how the Korean language is influenced by the use of English, but she is also interested in all kinds of linguistic behaviors which interact with social factors. She is currently interested in researches on language and culture as well as language policy.

Michael Barrie

2011년부터 서강대학교 국제인문학부 영미어문전공에서 전임교수로 근무하는 베리마이클

입니다. 현장연구와 이론언어학의 정밀성을 결합하여 생성문법의 이론적 틀로 통사형태론,

통사론, 통사론-의미론 인터페이스, 통사론-운율학 인터페이스에 대하여 연구를 합니다.

이러쿼이 어족, 알곤킨어파, 로망스어군, 게르만어군, 타갈로그어, 한국어, 네팔어와 몽골어를 연구합니다. 연구성과는 Linguistic Inquiry, Natural Language & Linguistic Theory, Studia Linguistica, Canadian Journal of Linguistics, Journal of East Asian Linguistics, 생성문법연구 등의 학술지에

출간되었습니다.

Michael Barrie has been a member of the English Department at Sogang University since 2011. His research focusses on morphosyntax, syntax, the syntax-semantics interface, and the syntax-prosody interface in a generative framework that combines field-work with theoretical rigour. He has worked on Iroquoian, Algonquian, Romance, Germanic, Tagalog, Korean, Nepali, and Mongolian. He has published in Linguistic Inquiry, Natural Language & Linguistic Theory, Studia Linguistica, Canadian Journal of Linguistics, Journal of East Asian Linguistics, and Studies in Generative Grammar.
